I’ll admit, I know almost nothing about manga/anime. But I am TOTALLY behind the new trend out of Japan: using a digital camera to create cool faux Kamehameha photos (a la Dragon Ball). So simple, so awesome! I would love to see some examples from Iowa City fans!
Check out more sweet pics at Comics Alliance and Kotaku.
And seriously, if you take your own faux Kamehameha picture, send it to teens (at) icpl (dot) org. You might just see your picture featured here!
Thanks to all of the teens who came to the Anime & Manga Fest on Saturday. It was a great time! If you didn’t get a chance to make it, don’t feel bad. That’s because we’re starting an Anime & Manga Club! Saturday, March 23 is our first meeting from 1:30-2:30, and we’ll be in Room B. We’ll watch anime, talk about our favorite manga, draw and trade tips on cosplay! Also, you can let me know what anime and manga the Library should have in its collection. Be sure to bring a friend!
Hi, I’m Brian, ICPL’s new Young Adult Librarian. I’m psyched for our annual Teen Anime & Manga Festival, which will be held Saturday, February 23 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. in Meeting Room A. If you’ve been to one of the festivals before, you know it’s a lot of fun. If not–We watch anime (on Room A’s huge screen), talk about our favorite manga and eat massive amounts of candy sushi (and delicious Pocky)!
We will be watching:
Katekyo Hitman Reborn!
There will also be an artist alley with prize drawings for participants, so be sure to bring your finished drawings or do some freehand work while you’re here! Cosplay dress is encouraged and there will be prizes for those that take part. We’re also going to do a cool craft, but I’ll let Emily do a post about that later. Also (also!) we have a big announcement for something really cool that we’ll make at the festival (and I’ll probably tease it a bit here too). Hope to see you there!
