Come to the Library for Teen Tech Zone over Spring Break! Monday, March 18 through Saturday, March 23, the computer lab will be open from 1-4 for teens to use the internet and hangout, or make multimedia projects and be creative. For teens in 7th-12th grade.

Yes, you read that title correctly: Someone made a kayak out of PVC and duct tape. That someone is a 9th grader at West High, and his duct tape kayak made the front page of Instructables! Check it out! He’s much braver than me…

Thanks to all of the teens who came to the Anime & Manga Fest on Saturday. It was a great time! If you didn’t get a chance to make it, don’t feel bad. That’s because we’re starting an Anime & Manga Club! Saturday, March 23 is our first meeting from 1:30-2:30, and we’ll be in Room B. We’ll watch anime, talk about our favorite manga, draw and trade tips on cosplay! Also, you can let me know what anime and manga the Library should have in its collection. Be sure to bring a friend!

Our next Guys Read meeting will be March 23, from 12:00-1:00 p.m. in Meeting Room E (on the 2nd Floor of the Library). We’ll be talking about “Skulduggery Pleasant” by Derek Landy (and its sequels). With pizza. Guys in Grades 5-8 are invited.
Hope to see you there!
Guys Read, a literacy initiative founded by children’s author Jon Scieszka, is designed to draw attention to boys’ literacy and to help boys become self-motivated, lifelong readers.

Big news for fans of Veronica Roth’s Divergent trilogy: Book 3 will be released October 22, 2013! I’m excited, are you?

Howdy. Our next Guys Read meeting will be February, 16, from 12:00-1:00 p.m. in Meeting Room E (on the 2nd Floor of the Library). We’ll be discussing “Chains” and “Forge” by Laurie Halse Anderson and “Bone” by Jeff Smith. With pizza. For guys in Grades 5-8.
Hope to see you there!

Hi, I’m Brian, ICPL’s new Young Adult Librarian. I’m psyched for our annual Teen Anime & Manga Festival, which will be held Saturday, February 23 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. in Meeting Room A. If you’ve been to one of the festivals before, you know it’s a lot of fun. If not–We watch anime (on Room A’s huge screen), talk about our favorite manga and eat massive amounts of candy sushi (and delicious Pocky)!
We will be watching:
Lucky Star
Katekyo Hitman Reborn!
Haibane Renmei
There will also be an artist alley with prize drawings for participants, so be sure to bring your finished drawings or do some freehand work while you’re here! Cosplay dress is encouraged and there will be prizes for those that take part. We’re also going to do a cool craft, but I’ll let Emily do a post about that later. Also (also!) we have a big announcement for something really cool that we’ll make at the festival (and I’ll probably tease it a bit here too). Hope to see you there!

Hey-o! B-Vis here, rockin’ the mic. Wednesday is my day to post, but I forgot (don’t tell Rachel). Anyway, our first summer program is coming up and it’s a geeky one. On Tuesday, June 9th from 2-4, the guys from Critical Hit Games are going to come and give an introduction to the role-playing game Dungeons and Dragons. Now I know what you’re thinking: “Oh my God, that’s so geeky.” To which I reply–hold up! I played D&D in high school, and I wasn’t a huge nerd. Ok, so maybe I was…the point is it’s going to be a lot of fun. Vin Diesel plays D&D. He’s cool, right? Critical Hit Games is also going to bring some other games for everyone to try out. Come! Vin Diesel commands you. Also, we’ll have soda and snacks.
Howdy, folks! So, school is almost out for all of you teens, and I know when I was that age I would look forward to two things: camp and books. I don’t know if teens still go to camp (do you?), but I do know that you read like crazy! So, what are you planning on reading this summer? Me? I’m reading the first book in the Song of Ice and Fire series, A Game of Thrones, by George R.R. Martin (yeah, I’m a nerd). Let me know what you’re reading in the comments!

I was kicking around the internet and saw this.
Discuss.
