“Meet debut author Mike Mullin and talk about his newly released book Ashfall on Wednesday, October 26 at 6pm.

For Alex, an Iowa teen, being left alone for the weekend means having the freedom to play computer games and hang out with his friends without hassle from his mother. Then the Yellowstone supervolcano erupts, plunging his hometown into a nightmare of darkness, ash, and violence. Alex begins a harrowing trek to search for his family and finds help in Darla, a travel partner he meets along the way. Together they must find the strength and skills to survive and outlast an epic disaster.

Mike lives in Indianapolis, holds a black belt in Songahm Taekwondo, and is currently working on Ashen Winter, the sequel to Ashfall. For more information about Mike check out his website.” — Coralville Public Library website

A favourite summer author talks about some new teen books. From Sarah’s suggestions, I’m especially interested in reading Bumped by Megan McCafferty. I really like dystopian fiction and the recent story about a high school student who faked a pregnancy for 6 1/2 months for her senior project on stereotypes helped set the mood.
