Hey, check out our latest podcast episode! We chat about Bloodhound by Tamora Pierce, The Men Who Stare at Goats by Jon Ronson, The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks, My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult, Evermore by Alyson Noël, and Alice in Wonderland / Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll. And in addition:
- Jason carefully deliberates the awesomeness of G.I. Joe Ninja vs. G.I. Joe Sniper, and laments his youth
- Rachel wishes she could evaporate goats with her mind
- Kim is annoyed by gratuitous Twilight references in every single book she reads; Carly, Brenna, Stephanie and Jason weigh in on gorgeous, perfect, unattainable vampire boys
- Carly is weirded out by Alice in Wonderland’s obsession with her cat
Just a heads up, you’ll probably have to crank your volume waaaay up. Enjoy!

The breaks over the years have gotten shorter it seems. I remember the breaks when I was younger when we had 3 weeks for winter break. Has “the man” gotten more strick, or was i just fooled into thinking it seemed longer? The breaks today are still fun, with playing in the snow and playing video games by the nice warm fire.
Some of my favorites this break have been old-school ones actually. Tetris is a fun favorite of mine, and super mario bros. has crept back into my most played. New Super Mario Bros. Wii is a unique spin on the old favorite. New suits have been added, as well as bringing back the mini mario mushroom from New super Mario Brothers DS. One of my old-school favorites of all time has recently been added to the Wii’s online catalog of games. That’s right, Super Smash Bros., the original has now been made available for the low price of $10, or in wii speak, 1000 points.
New Years is slowly creeping up. Anyone have any plans that they’ve been dying to tell someone about? Anyone in some far-off exotic gettaway where no one can hear you scream? haha just kidding. Hope you guys enjoy the rest of this year. Enjoy next year as well. Bye from 2009.
So I just wanted to wish all of you “Happy Holidays,” no matter what kind of traditions or things that you celebrate!
And enjoy all of your presents!

“THE BIG READ”: FAHRENHEIT 451
The Iowa City Public Library is doing an awesome series of events about Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, sci-fi, censorship, and more in February 2010. TAG is going to tackle this book with an amazing and creative project (we just don’t know what it is yet!). Read it over break, finish it up by the January TAG meeting, and we’ll plan something crazy-fun and Fahrenheit 451-related for February’s event.
Hey everyone,
So I’m sure that we’re all anxiously anticipating a snow day later this week! (Probably Wednesday, I think!)
I just wanted to know about your plans for the day! (I mean, you’re probably not going anywhere, since you can’t get to school in the first place!)
I know that I’m looking forward to sleeping in and drinking hot chocolate and reading some good ICPL books!
Plus GOING SLEDDING, which I hope to do sometime SOON (And making a snowman?). Ooh, and I should probably put up my Christmas tree sometime…!
Well, let me know what your plans are for the snow days!
On Saturday December 12th What A Load Of Craft is going to be at the Johnson county fair grounds in building C from 11 to 7. There will be local vendors and crafters with some of their crafted items and home goods for sale. There are musical performances throughout the day starting at 12:30. A couple of the performers are Lipstick Homicide and Pete Balestrieri. There is also a Craft Death Match with 4 or 5 rounds of activities where a few people compete and have a set amount of time to complete a project and have it judged. A few of these activities are human gift wrapping, making a play dough holiday meal and gingerbread house construction. The winner gets prizes from local Iowa City Vendors. For more information go to the website and check it out!
