Hey everyone, it’d be great if you decided to go to the We The People performance tomorrow night, Saturday, or Sunday at Regina. It’ll be in the elementary gym, and me and my “fellow jr. high members” are going to put it on.

“There is no better way to celebrate America than with beautiful, patriotic music-from America’s favorite anthems to original, poignant and uplifting compositions. This patriotic tableau begins as a committee discusses putting on a patriotic show for their town. Just what does America mean to them? One person pulls out the Preamble to the Constitution, and they decide to use it as a framework for their show. Everyday life is showcased in both funny and touching vignettes, offering a variety of moods as it explores the deeper meanings of the language of the Constitution. From two neighbors arguing their constitutional rights to have crab grass to an immigrant’s heartwarming rendition of her coming to America, this Norman Rockwellesque review offers slices of life in America. Spelling bees parades letters home from war all become part of this patchwork quilt of American life. This musical will serve as a fine reminder that the remarkable words written by our forefathers many years ago are still a living document, part of our lives each and every day.”

This makes it seem super boring, and the name’s not that great either, but the show is a LOT better than it seems! Hope to see you all there!

Budding Bards take note!  Will Power, the education outreach program of the Riverside Theatre Shakespeare Festival, along with Midwest OneBank, are sponsoring two poetry contests for teens.  One is for Grades 7-8 where you have to write an original Shakespeare-inspired poem (3 CASH PRIZES) and the other is for Grades 9-12 where you crank out an original sonnet (3 CASH PRIZES).

Good luck peoples!  Now get crackin’.

The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks

by E. Lockhart

Frankie Landau-Banks at age 14: Debate Club. Her father’s “bunny rabbit.” A mildly geeky girl attending a highly competitive boarding school. Frankie Landau-Banks at age 15: A knockout figure. A sharp tongue. A chip on her shoulder. And a gorgeous new senior boyfriend: the supremely goofy, word-obsessed Matthew Livingston. Frankie Landau-Banks. No longer the kind of girl to take “no” for an answer. Especially when “no” means she’s excluded from her boyfriend’s all-male secret society.

Jason and Brian will be at the West High School Career Fair today so be on the lookout for the nerdish table with all the candy!  We will be wowing you with all the amazing opportunities available for Public Library jobs upon your graduation…for real.  And while we talk your ear off you will be able to eat candy to your heart’s content!  We promise not to make it awkward a-la The Office job fair episode.  Also we have a couple of giveaway opportunities for slightly damaged (sorry) copies of “Breaking Dawn” so look for that too.

p.s. we will not be silently judging you on how much candy you take…actually I will be but Brian won’t.

Tonight I was watching the Golden Globes (ok, really I was only watching it during the commercials of Return of the Jedi but whatever) and was suddenly reminded of how much I love Amy Poehler and Will Arnett.  They are my favorite celebri-couple!

Here is the newest reason why Amy Poehler is so awesome….Smart Girls at the Party!!!  It’s a webshow put together by Amy P. and her two best friends, Meredith and Amy M., where they interview girls who are just being themselves.  There are 8 episodes (7ish minutes long), plus a bonus interview episode with Amy, Amy, and Meredith.  I just read that this is the end of season one, but season two will be coming soon.  So YAY!  This webshow is awesome!  To get yourself addicted, I recommend starting with “The Feminist – Ruby” and following with “The Writer – Cameron.”  Both girls are especially awesome.

And for the guys who think an internet show called Smart Girls at the Party might be lame or are turned off by all of the Barbie ads on the site, just wait.  At the end of every episode is a dance party…featuring clips of Will Arnett!!  (See why they are my favorite celebri-couple?)

So go watch it, get addicted, and prepare yourselves for Season 2!  Oh, and when you find out that you love it, be sure to check out their blog too.

So, the teen gaming night was a smashing success.  Thanks to the 30 or so peeps who came out and played.  Everyone seemed to like LittleBigPlanet, which is good because it is awesome.  Brawl was, unsurprisingly, the other big game, though I apologize for the unorganized fashion in which players rotated in and out.  For the next event I’ll try to have a system in place to make it easier and/or more Wiis with Brawl in them.  Speaking of the next event–it will be on a Saturday afternoon.  I’ll make another post once I have the details.  Also, there was an article about the gaming night in the Press Citizen.  Read it!

One last thing:  Watch the trailer for “9.”  It looks unbelievably cool (and a little bit like LittleBigPlanet coincidentally).

Hello Peeps! Since in the last podcast we talked about a map on the pop and soda thing I thought we should show it. So here it is. Sorry if it is a little small but the others were too big.
